What Does Meaning Making Look Like for Anakin Skywalker - Christian Callaghan
This title may at first cause confusion, as people usually understand meaning making to be something that occurs within the protagonist. However through my term paper, I proved that this is not necessarily the case and that one of the most important things that someone needs to have in order to make meaning is a spirit to guide you on your journey.
Throughout Anakin's journey, he is constantly reminded of his mother's enslavement and the killing of the women and children that were at the encampment where she was held. This is later brought up as a fuel for his killing of the young children in the Jedi temple. This rage can be translated into spiritual fire that is underneath Ankain that would push him forward into his destiny of becoming a sith lord.
We all have this internal push of the spirit, whether it be God or some other factor in our lives, we lead our journeys on the basis of this moral guide in the back of our minds. Our meaning making can be seen as the direct outcome of the things we have done in the past and who we want to represent us as a spirit.
With all of this said, you do not need to off younglings in order to find your path in life, simply allow yourself to be guided by what your moral intuition is telling you. This is the spirit.
